The Advertising Producers Association, or APA, is a UK-based non-profit trade body that represents the interests of UK commercial production, editing, vfx, audio post and music companies. APA members work within TV and Digital commercials along with advertisers and agencies. In 1978, the APA was formed as the AFPA, an adjunct to the British Film Producers Association (BFPA), and became the AFVPA in 1982, which it was known as until 2000. The purpose of the Advertising Producers Association, is to circulate industry information, represent the production companies within the advertising industry, create industry standards and provide professional development. In addition, the association works closely with the IPA to ensure better communication- addressing production issues and resolving disputes. Steve Davies is the Chief Executive and its chairmen are John Hackney and Lewis More O'Ferrall. == Events == The APA Collection & Show is an annual event, featuring the best 50 UK commercials of the year and is one of the mayor advertising awards in the UK.〔(APA )〕 They also run the APA Masterclass, a training course for young producers, to act as an introduction to the aspects involved in producing television commercials . It aims to guide students through each stage of the production process illuminating each area and offering expert knowledge on the various components of production. The APA has organised events around the world to help its members develop business in new markets, including Tokyo, Shanghai, Beijing and Mumbai. Most recently (2013) the APA organised 'Creative London comes to Silicon Valley', taking 30 of its members to San Francisco to meet Google/YouTube, Netflix, Twitter and AT&T labs amongst others.
